Mount Vernon Cemetery was established in 1856. It's not abandoned. 

This cemetery is locked-up 24 hours a day, unless you make special arrangements for somebody to let you in.

It's probably beautiful underneath the overgrowth, which appears to cover much of the cemetery grounds.

There is an effort by volunteers to rectify this situation. But for now, the cemetery is in shambles.

Pricing information:

For an inscription job there is a $150 license fee. And arrangements must be made at least 24 hours in advance in order for someone to meet you at the cemetery to unlock the gate.
