About:

In 2011, Mount Moriah Cemetery in southwest Philadelphia was considered the largest abandoned cemetery in the United States. Much of this cemetery had returned to being a forest. Criminals dumped their trash in here. The cemetery, which was established in 1855, had become a derelict wasteland.

But a group of concerned Philadelphians joined together to bring this cemetery back to a respectable state.

The work continues, but the progress has been amazing.

I only photographed one small part of Mount Moriah. This place is huge!

In the photos you will notice there is a veterans section that is very neatly maintained. The U.S. government takes care of that part and one other larger veterans section on the Yeadon, Delaware County side of the cemetery..
