About:
The house at this cemetery is in a state of decay. If you decide to walk up the steps to the porch, be careful. Those steps and that wooden porch floor seem risky.
A sign on the door says the building is under renovation. Though it looks like that sign has been there for a couple years, or longer.
This cemetery is owned by the same people that run the Oliver H. Bair Funeral Home and Montrose Cemetery in Upper Darby.
Cumberland is about 25% occupied. Twenty-four acres of ground remains available. (That is a good sign.)
Perpetual Care Funding:
Laura Tyler died November 10, 1944. In her will she bequested $15,000 to a trust whose purpose was to provide for the perpetual maintenance of the John J. Tyler Mausoleum in Cumberland Cemetery. This was to include "the purchase of flowers and blooming plants for decorating purposes and for the care of trees and shrubbery in and about the Mausoleum. Any surplus of income was to be expended for the care of neglected graves, walks, drives and other parts of Cumberland Cemetery, with specific direction of care for the tombs of Minshall Painter and Jacob Painter."
Fund balance as of September 30, 2015 was $125,857.
There should be additional money set aside for perpetual care of the other graves. I am awaiting information about this.
Pricing information:
Inscription permit fee is $100.

The following photos are from a June 20, 2017 visit. Their grounds-keeping regimen is looking weak. I'm puzzled by this.
Things were looking better during my autumn 2017 visit... But during my following visit in September 2018 the grass was really high again. I am confused about the grounds maintenance philosophy here.
